Fortnite data miner discovers Chinese New Year cosmetics

Chinese New Year cosmetics will be arriving in the Fortnite Item Shop, according to well-known data miner ShiinaBR. With rumors hinting toward an in-game event to celebrate the Chinese New Year starting on Jan. 25, data miners were able to uncover skins, back bling, pickaxes, and more designed around Chinese samurai culture. Epic Games hasn’t confirmed that these cosmetics exist since the company doesn’t comment on leaks or rumors. Here are some screengrabs of the Chinese New Year cosmetics:

Here’s the schedule for the 2021 Mid-Season Invitational

Riot Games’ 2021 Mid-Season Invitational begins in just one week.  The three-phase League of Legends tournament will last three weeks with a group, rumble, and knockout stage each getting its own week of action.  The 11 teams participating in the event include squads from each of the major League regions around the world, like the LEC, LCS, LPL, and LCK. For the group stage starting on May 6, the teams have been split into two pools of four and one pool of three.

Valve nerfs M4A1-S in latest CS:GO patch, brings major changes to Ancient

A new CS:GO update has hit the live servers, answering part of the community’s wishes to nerf the M4A1-S and to remodel Ancient, the last map to enter the competitive pool. The M4A1-S has been at the center of debate among professional players since September 2021, when Valve buffed the rifle’s body damage. Many pros immediately started playing with the silenced rifle and abandoned the M4A4, not only because of the buffs but also because the M4A1-S is slightly cheaper.

Shawdowspear slays Gods in Theros: Beyond Death

An answer to Gods with indestructible and hexproof creatures dropped in today’s Theros: Beyond Death spoilers with the equipment artifact, Shadowspear.  Set to release on Jan. 24, MTG’s Theros: Beyond Death (THB) contains seven indestructible Gods and only a handful of removal spells that can deal with them. But that all changed today with the reveal of Shawdowspear.  Shadwospear is an equipment artifact that gives a creature +1/+1, Trample, and Lifelink.

VTuber Ironmouse is now the most subbed female Twitch streamer ever

VTuber Ironmouse has reached a lofty Twitch channel milestone and broken a major platform record on the same day during her ongoing subathon stream. Eleven days into her subathon, Ironmouse hit one million followers on Twitch. On top of that, just minutes later, the VShojo star’s live subscriber count ticked over more than 75,000. That haul makes her the most subscribed female streamer in the Amazon-owned platform’s history. “Words cannot express what I am feeling right now,” Ironmouse wrote on Twitter soon after bowling down the record.

All teams qualified for VCT Masters Berlin

The third and final stage of the VALORANT Champions Tour culminates in Berlin in September.  Leading up to the end-of-year world championship, which is expected to take place in Berlin from Dec. 1 to 12, VCT Masters Berlin will be one of the deciding factors of the tournament circuit, delivering hundreds of points to the winners. Up from just 10 in Masters Reykjavík, Berlin will accommodate 15 teams from EMEA, North America, Brazil, Southeast Asia, Korea, Japan, and Latina America.

A broad range of balance changes are hitting Summoner’s Rift this week in League of Legends Patch 11.7. The developers are cracking down on the bot lane, targeting support champions, “who have been overpowering their peers,” like Alistar, Rell, and Thresh, as well as marksmen like Ashe, Kai’Sa, and Tristana. The patch is expected to go live on Wednesday, March 30. Along with champion changes, the patch includes adjustments to items like Essence Reaver, Everfrost, and Trinity Force, an update to ranked progression, providing “smoother LP gains” to help ensure players receive LP at a more “predictable rate,” a slew of bug fixes, much-needed quality of life changes, and more.

MTG Mirror Box removes legend rule via Kamigawa: Neon Dynasty

The legend rule in Magic: The Gathering is taking a back seat via a Rare Artifact contained in the upcoming Kamigawa: Neon Dynasty set. Legendary permanents within MTG have a rule they must abide by, allowing for only one copy on the battlefield at a time. Scheduled to release digitally on Feb. 10, Kamigawa: Neon Dynasty (NEO) will include an Artifact that creates a loophole around the legendary rule. Mirror Box, revealed today by Twitter user Lights during the first day of NEO spoilers, is a Rare Artifact that removes the legendary rule while on the battlefield and pumps the stats of all legendary creatures.
