Since its 2016 release, Pokémon Go has periodically added new species from its numerous generations. There are 18 different types of Pokémon species. These types are stronger against some while being weaker against others. Each Pokémon has access to different moves and a set of unique stats that factor into its overall strength. With so many species in the game, it can be confusing for players to know which Pokémon are the best to take into battle.

Even with all of the legendary Pokémon that have been added to Sword and Shield in The Crown Tundra expansion, there are still certain encounters that aren’t actually available in-game.  This only applies to legendary and mythical Pokémon that aren’t actively available in main series games and were distributed through special events or giveaways.  Two of the more prominent Pokémon that fit that description are Volcanion and Diancie, two generation six Pokémon that have only been available as a part of events.
