Wizards of the Coast revealed two MTG Arena codes with the launch of Innistrad: Midnight Hunt today, rewarding players with XP and booster packs.  The digital release of Innistrad: Midnight Hunt (MID) went live today with only a few minor bugs so far. Renewal reward eggs might not show up after downloading the new patch, but a simple restart of MTG Arena will trigger all renewal rewards. WoTC is aware of a bug in Sealed events that’s causing deck issues.

If you and your friends were sad about ranked five-player stacks being gone in VALORANT, then you might be happy to see Riot Games’ plans for Patch 3.10. In a new developers blog post detailing some additions for Act Three, the devs confirmed that five-stacks are returning for players of any rank in Patch 3.10. The trade-off will be that groups of five will earn slightly less ranked rating and four-stacks will no longer be allowed in the competitive queue.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War has added a new weapon during season three and it’s yet another strong tactical rifle. The CARV.2 is described as a burst-fire tactical rifle with “moderate firepower with improved recoil control and a larger ammo pool” that’s “effective at mid-to-long range.” It’s extremely reminiscent of the fictional G11 burst rifle from Call of Duty: Black Ops 1. Early indications are that this is a strong gun, comparable to the M16 and AUG when it comes to long-range burst rifles that can melt down enemy squads.

There’s something so satisfying about a classic, 1940s-era bolt-action rifle. It’s part of what makes World War II games so satisfying to play. Call of Duty: Vanguard has a number of bolt-action rifles to use, but one of the most satisfying is the Kar98k. This gun will immediately be familiar to players of just about any FPS game in recent memory, like PUBG or Battlefield V. The full name for the Kar98k is “Karabiner 98 kurz.

The owners of one of the most infamous esports gambling sites have escaped major punishment after settling with the FTC. Trevor “TmarTn” Martin and Thomas “Syndicate” Cassell, two part-owners of CS:GO gambling site CSGOLotto, reached a settlement order yesterday involving a complaint to the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) against themselves and their website. The settlement includes no immediate financial penalty for the pair. The order requires TmarTn and Syndicate to “clearly and conspicuously disclose any material connections” with their business interests in compliance with the U.

As an alternative to Sharding in Retail, Blizzard introduced something called Layers to World of Warcraft Classic. The system, created especially for Classic and Burning Crusade Classic, helps to combat high server populations by splitting each realm into multiple layers. When a layer hits its population cap—which is in the thousands—a new layer is created.  This prevents lag and gives players more room to breathe, level up in peace, and quest without the added strain of having to compete for mobs.

The release of the Halo Infinite multiplayer beta has relit the spark behind the eyes of members of the Halo fanbase. Elf tribal is returning to Magic: The Gathering within the Limited format via a Black and Green Midrange archetype in Kaldheim. Midrange decks capitalize on being flexible, with touches of Aggro and Control built into them. BG in MTG Kaldheim shifts from the typical Golgari “dying matters” Midrange archetype to a Midrange Elf tribal build that likes to go wide with tokens and reanimate from the graveyard. The goal behind drafting BG in KHM Limited is to use Elf synergies that will get stronger during the midgame and go lethal before running out of gas.

After what seemed like an offseason that lasted forever, all 12 Call of Duty League teams have officially been revealed. CDL fans will finally get to see how each squad stacks up during a preseason Kickoff Classic event starting on Jan. 21 in Texas. The official 2022 season launch won’t be until Feb. 4, though. The first set of matches will be played online and then the action will move to LAN for all Major tournaments, barring any complications.

The Apex Legends team knows how to make a good skin, and in 2021, players were treated to some of the best cosmetics on offer to date. From the Fight Night collection event all the way to the Ash Launch Bundle, Apex Coins and Crafting Metals flowed freely over the past 12 months as players tried to get some of their favorites.  Since Respawn has also brought back past skins for special sales and events more regularly this year, missing out on some of these skins hurts, but there’s always the possibility they’ll be available again in the future.
