Overwatch releases April Fools’ Experimental Card

Overwatch players may want this particular April Fools’ Day prank to stick around.  After adding in annual staples like googly eyes and all-caps Reinhardt dialogue in match chats, Overwatch developers decided to give players a bonus gift to enjoy today. The April 1 Experimental Card includes changes for all 32 heroes, ranging from minor tweaks to truly ridiculous overhauls.  Torbjörn’s Forge Hammer, for example, now does 200 percent bonus damage when Overload is active, making it one of the best melee weapons in the game.

Riot ‘overshot’ on Zeri nerfs, hotfix now live in League of Legends

Riot Games has admitted that it “overshot” on recent Zeri nerfs by “quite a bit” and has now shipped a hotfix to League of Legends in an attempt to remedy the champion.  In a post on social media yesterday evening, Riot lead champion designer August Browning detailed all of the Zeri adjustments that have been pushed to the live servers. They include a series of buffs to the champion’s stats, Burst Fire (Q), Ultrashock Laser (W), and Spark Surge (E).

T1 promotes coach Bengi, extends Polt and Moment’s contracts

Bae “Bengi” Seong-woong will join Choi “Polt” Seong-hun and Kim “Moment” Ji-hwan in coaching T1’s League of Legends team next season. T1 has promoted Bengi from T1 Challengers and extended the contracts of Polt, the head coach and general manager of the team, and Moment, the assistant coach. In what T1 describes as a “multi-year deal,” Polt will lead the team going forward. He, Son “Stardust” Seok-hee, and Moment, who joined from T1’s academy team earlier in the year, helped to successfully turn around T1’s season in 2021, taking over from Yang “Daeny” Dae-in and Lee “Zefa” Jae-min in July.

Wanda skin leaked in Fortnite ahead of premiere of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness

A new Wanda Maximoff skin in Fortnite has been leaked via Twitter. The character making her debut in the game almost certainly accompanies the premiere of Marvel’s Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness this week Epic Games has been a long collaborator with Marvel and has been bringing superheroes and villains to the game for years now. Portrayed by Elizabeth Olsen, The Scarlet Witch (Wanda Maximoff) plays a crucial role in Marvel’s upcoming blockbuster, according to the trailers.

XQc permanently banned from NoPixel 3.0 server following fifth ban

One of NoPixel 3.0’s most notorious players, xQc has yet again been banned from the server–and this time it looks to be permanent. News of his ban was first shared by xQcOWUpdates, who pointed out that xQc’s account has been tagged as banned user in the NoPixel discord. Another piece of evidence was a forum post from an admin, stating that Jean Paul, xQc’s character, is no longer a resident of the city.

Former League world champion GimGoon retires from pro play

Kim “GimGoon” Han-saem has officially retired from professional League of Legends, he announced on Weibo earlier today. The 2019 world champion has retired at the age of 25 after nearly eight years in the League esports scene across both South Korea and China. In his statement, GimGoon said he’s considered retirement for a long time. “After playing for so long in the profession, I have always had your support, teammates and friends, and I have no regrets in my career,” GimGoon said, according to a machine translation.

FPX parts ways with Crisp

League of Legends support player Liu “Crisp” Qing-Song is no longer with FunPlus Phoenix after spending four years together. The 23-year-old was a part of FPX since the organization entered League‘s pro scene in December 2017. He helped the team win LPL Summer in September 2019 and the Worlds Championship later that year. The Chinese squad did not replicate the same performance in 2020, but came close to winning two LPL championships in 2021, finishing runners-up twice.
